GMAT INFORMATION

What is the GMAT?

The GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) is a standardized computer adaptive test. The test consists of three sections: the Quantitative section, the Verbal sectionand the Data Insights section. Universities and Business Schools use the GMAT as an admission test for their Pre-Master's, Master's, and MBA programs. The test takes a total of 2 hours and 15 minutes (excluding short breaks).

Quantitative
section


21 QUESTIONS
45 MINUTES

The Quantitative section asks you to solve mathematical problems. On average, you have two minutes per question. It is crucial that you are familiar with the different types of questions, can deal with the time constraint, and master all mathematical tricks and shortcuts. The questions measure your ability to analyze data and draw conclusions using reasoning skills.

The GMAT exam assesses all of your skills – not just math. The Verbal section measures your ability to read and understand written material, to evaluate arguments, and to correct written material to conform to standard written English. You have 1.5 to 2 minutes on average to answer each question. 

Data Insights Section


20 QUESTIONS
45 MINUTES

The Data Insights Section consists of five types of questions: Data Sufficiency, Multi-Source Reasoning, Table Analysis, Graphics Inteprretation and Two-Part Analysis. These questions measure your ability to evaluate information presented in multiple formats from multiple sources. 

 

GMAT score 

The total GMAT score ranges from 205 to 805 and only depends on your performance on the Quantitative section and the Verbal section. Some people apply for a prestigious Master’s program or an MBA abroad and need a 650+ score. Most people in the Netherlands need to pass the GMAT when they apply for a Pre-Master’s or a Master’s program and need a 550 or a 600 score. In order to obtain such a score, preparation for the GMAT is absolutely necessary!
